Not too long ago, I put on make-up for the first time in weeks. It doesn’t sound like a big deal but I hadn’t done it in so long that it was almost foreign. My hands were shaky. I had lost a lot of strength while in hospital so it was a tiny bit more difficult that usual. A couple of days after I was discharged from the hospital, I drove my car for the first time in almost a month. I needed to go to some medical appointments during the week while everyone else was working so I needed to take myself there. I had terribly anxiety about it. I drive a manual transmission and having lost the strength in my legs made driving difficult too. It felt like I was driving a car for one of the first times after receiving your license. My heart has been broken before, a few times actually. But nothing compares to the magnitude of pain it feels now or how shattered it is. They say time heals all wounds but I don't feel like this wound will ever close.  It's been a week since Dad passed away. When it comes to the heartache, it feels like it just happened. In terms of time, it already feels like a lifetime. I can't imagine my life without him, yet here I am. He meant so much to me. He was one of my best friends, my biggest fan, my cheerleader, my coach, my counsellor, my sounding board, my teacher, my protector, my hero.  Growing up, I never had to question his love for me. He always called me his baby girl, no matter my age. He was always there when I needed him.  I already miss him so much. But there is so much about him to miss. He had an amazingly huge heart. This post is will have a very different feel from the rest of my blog. It's not going to be all shiny and positive as usual because sadly, I don't feel all that sparkly. But it's important and I hope you are able to read to the end. I don't normally speak up about "controversial" issues because everyone is entitled to their opinions and are allowed to make their own choices. This issue, although backed by science, is becoming an ever growing epidemic across the globe. People are dying, the very young and the very old alike. I'm talking about vaccinations. I used to be on the fence about them myself. Once a perfectly healthy person, I never had to think about taking additional measures. I was naive and didn't realize that by getting vaccinated, I could be saving someone else from getti ng sick. I didn't want to put something foreign in my body and I took m y health for granted.
